Appreciate the Little Things20 Feb 2015, Posted by Blog in
I just kept thinking, “This is the kind of place people write stories about.” We were driving down Highway 101 in California and it was the first time I had seen the Pacific Ocean.
I was traveling across country with my friends Marie and Renee and we took a break at a beach right off the highway. When we got to the waves, we saw an otter playing and rolling in the sand. Sounds like a minuscule thing, but it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
We were tired and ready to make it to our next destination, but I am so glad we stopped to take in that simple moment.
I often get stuck in my daily routine: be there by this time; finish that project when I get home; pick this up at the store; etc…
Daily life can get so busy that I forget to enjoy the little things: spending some time with my family instead of staying late at the office; calling my mom and dad; catching up with a friend I haven’t talked to in a while.
Stop for a second and look at the beautiful world around you.
At the end of the day, it’s the simple moments that create an extraordinary life.
