December always seems to mess with my emotions.
My mind is divided between reflecting on the past year while simultaneously casting vision for the next one. Somewhere between all this reflecting, I have to find time to buy gifts and build gingerbread homes with Mariah. Despite the rush, it is one of my favorite times of year.
This December, as I reflect on the past year and the year to come, the one word that summarizes it all is “change.”
In 2015, our staff celebrated life changes like babies, weddings, and mourning the change of death and having to say goodbye to friends.
In 2016, SI will experience significant change as we send out our first long term staff assignments to South America and Africa.
Because I travel the world, people are often surprised to hear me say that I hate change. I have lived in the same town for 35 years. I order a small pike with soy every time I go to the Starbucks.
Change is not invited to be a part of my daily routine; however change is the only consistent force in my life that challenges me to grow. The changes from 2015 have prepared our team for the changes to come in 2016. It is difficult to be thankful for change, especially for the unknown changes that await us, but I am.
Now, I need to go rearrange our office desks. This is the first thing we are changing for 2016…
Loving the journey,
