“I have an amazing story for you to capture, Dave,” Rodney said to David over a Skype call as he sat in an old hotel room in Gulu, Uganda. Rodney, the director of Sports Outreach, convinced David to drive to Kampala to meet a Ugandan girl named Phiona.

She became the heroine for one of the first documentaries Silent Images ever produced.

In 2010, Silent Images shared the story of Phiona, her coach Robert and the chess camp ministry in the slums of Uganda. Since then Phiona has grown to become famous through the 2016 Disney Film, The Queen of Katwe.

Now the world can learn from this amazing story of perseverance and seeing the potential in all children.
