When I googled Israel…

I googled “Israel” and the headline story was about the Kardashians and Kanye West touring the country…

Don’t doubt this is the most important thing happening in Israel.

To be honest, I’m not sure how to process any news I hear about Israel. When I think of this country my mind bounces from political turmoil to military chaos to historic sites where Jesus probably walked.

I have a full time (and then some) job and a husband and friends… my mind is already pulled in so many directions how am I supposed to navigate through all the news and history to understand the real issues in Israel besides being invaded by the Kardashians?

Case in point is this – there are issues happening all around us that we either:
1) don’t have the time to think about because our lives are too busy, or
2) don’t have any context to process them with so there’s little point in caring.

These issues are worth our care and consideration, especially if there is something we can do to help… but it doesn’t seem possible alone.

Enter #womeninfocus.

The past few months, we (Silent Images) have put on a monthly gathering designed to be what the community needs to process the worlds big issues. A free space for women in all walks of life to set aside the time and understand the context that surrounds these issues.

This month, I personally invite you to join us as we dialogue about Israel, what’s really going on there and what it means for us.

Hope to see you there- Thursday, April 23rd from 7-8:30 pm at our office in Matthews.
